From The Back Cover: Musicians in progressive rock bands in Chicago are being murdered–one by one.  The local police have no clues, but several of the musicians who fear they’re next on the hit list claim that the killer is a ghost from the past–a woman who was reported missing and presumed dead for over thirty years!.  The Rockin’ Security team is called into action.  Spike and his partner, Suzanne Prescott, travel to Chicago to investigate the case, only to find that no one wants to talk.  As Spike digs deeper, he begins to unearth a lode of deadly secrets involving sex, psychedelic drugs, and, of course, rock ‘n’ roll.  And it isn’t long before the private detective becomes a pawn in a very dangerous game.

Dark Side of the Morgue is a well written crime thriller that was easy to read, with a flowing story.  I found that the book had a slow start but it picked up not to far along.  I also found it hard to keep track of all the band names and who played with who and on which bands; I spent a lot of time at the front of the book rereading the Chicagoprog Family Tree.  One of the things that I didn’t like about this story was at about 1/3 of the way through the book, the author gives you a good clue as to who the killer is and I was pretty sure (that early on) who the killer was; it was a bit of a let down.  I would recommend this book for anyone that is a fan of crime thrillers.
